Yarra Valley food, wine & wildlife daytourA very full & enthralling day, starting with Australian wildlife and finishing with fine food & wine.HIGHLIGHTS
We start our day around 9.30am and travel directly to the world-famous Healesville Sanctuary, one of Australia’s most recognised and acclaimed wildlife sanctuaries. With 30 hectares of bushland, it showcases more than 200 species of Australian wildlife in a distinctly Australian setting. Here, visitors can experience close-up encounters with some of Australia’s most unique and captivating wildlife in their natural habitat, including koalas, kangaroos, wombats, emus, dingoes, birds of prey and platypus. We then travel to Victoria’s first vineyard, Yering Station, for a pre-lunch wine-tasting in the original redbrick winery (circa 1859) building surrounded by local artworks and produce. Lunch is a short walk away through landscaped gardens in a stunning contemporary building with world-class views and cuisine. Browse the menu. After a relaxing lunch we head to one the valley’s stand out properties, Tarrawarra Estate. With its elevated location and vine covered hills, there are glorious valley views to take in, all before you enjoy a tasting of their excellent range of wines, especially the estate range of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. If you’re so inclined, a visit to the super impressive Tarrawarra Museum of Art will showcase an outstanding collection of significant pieces of Australian art. Our journey home can take us through Steels Creek and the rolling Christmas Hills. Expect to be back to your accommodation by around 6.30pm.
